2. Manual triggering of backup plans
Perform a backup and view the backup results.
Note that only policies related to online clients have the [Run Now] option.
Click [Run Now] to manually execute the policy (without waiting for the policy trigger moment) and select the runtime level.
Wait a moment and it will jump to [Job] - [Running]:
There are slight differences in the "increment" level related to different plugins.
Sqlserver has no incremental backups, only differential backups and transaction log backups.
Mysql only has incremental backups at the instance level, and full backups at the database level.
Incremental backup and differential backup are two common backup strategies used to optimize the backup process, reduce storage space usage and backup time. Their main differences lie in the scope of backup data and the complexity of recovery.
Incremental Backup
Definition : An incremental backup only backs up data that has changed since the last backup, whether full or incremental.
Advantages :
Save storage space because only data that has changed since the last backup is backed up at a time.
Save time : Backups are shorter because less data is backed up each time.
Disadvantages :
The recovery process is complicated : the last full backup needs to be restored first, and then each incremental backup needs to be restored sequentially until the latest data.
Note that AvatarStor has improved the recovery method for incremental backups. We support synthetic recovery, which means you can initiate recovery from the incremental job result at any time. The system will later automatically search for all other incremental and full data related to it.
Example :
Sunday: Full backup
Monday: Backup changes since Sunday
Tuesday: Backup changes since Monday
And so on
Differential Backup
Definition : A differential backup backs up all data that has changed since the last full backup.
Advantages :
The recovery process is relatively simple : only the last full backup needs to be restored, and then the last differential backup needs to be restored.
Save time : The recovery process is relatively simple because there are fewer backup files to recover.
Disadvantages :
Higher storage space requirements : Each differential backup backs up all changed data since the last full backup and may take up more storage space than incremental backups.
Increasing backup time : The amount of data backed up increases gradually over time because each differential backup includes all changes since the last full backup.
Example :
Sunday: Full backup
Monday: Backup changes since Sunday
Tuesday: Backup changes since Sunday
And so on
If a strategy is manually executed and the operation has not yet ended, and it is time for the automatic triggering of the strategy, then the automatically triggered job will be cancelled. If a strategy is manually run multiple times in a row, as long as the first triggered job has not ended, subsequent strategies will be cancelled. That is to say, a strategy can only run once at the same time.
From the left navigation bar [Jobs], click [Backup Jobs], you can:

Note that there are two states for homework: successful and partially successful. Successful homework is marked with a green checkmark, while partially successful homework is marked with a yellow exclamation mark. Partially successful homework is a state where some data has problems or failed during the backup process, and can also be restored, but some data may be incomplete. Please analyze the failed data in conjunction with the Client log.
